On October 14 2009, the inauguration of the photographic exhibition on John Paul II was held, in the presence of Cardinal Jorge Mejïa, Archivist and Librarian Emeritus of the Holy Roman Church. Cardinal Mejïa studied with the young Karol Wojtyla’s in the 1940’s at the Angelicum.

Inauguration of the Exhibition: John Paul II and Benedict XVI: a Shared Journey with Mary, Young People and Creation.
The inauguration of this photographic exhibition dedicated to John Paul II and Benedict XVI will take place at the beginning of the semester, in the presence of high-ranking ecclesiastical officials and leading exponents in the various fields of culture.
The exhibition, highlighting some of the key moments of their pontificates and displayed around the Angelicum complex, will also include images that document the relationship between Pope John Paul II and this Dominican university.
Seminar on the theme: Thinking in Latin: the young Wojtyła and his studies in Rome
This event will be focused on the doctoral thesis of Karol Wojtyła, republished in a special new edition in Italian on the occasion of the semester that includes explanatory essays and comment. Reflections on the theme selected by Wojtyła for his thesis, and on his notes documenting its most important aspects, will be offered by prestigious Dominican academics.
Conference on the theme: Catholics in ’48: Wojtyła among the Tensions and Hopes of Postwar Rome
During this public conference at the Angelicum, leading historians and politicians will recall the climate of conflict and of cultural debate that animated the Capital of Italy in the years in which the future Pontiff was completing his studies in Theology at the Angelicum.

In this roundtable discussion at the Angelicum, directors and cinema critics will discuss how the cinema and television have tried to narrate the personal story of Karol Wojtyła, the man and the Pope, a person who lived every moment of his extraordinary life with faith and courage.
